Early Intensive Overseas Intervention Program

A Clinical Team Training Program for Overseas Families

The Early Intensive Overseas Intervention Program is designed for a small group of families who want to establish an intensive early intervention program where they live. The service is aimed at families residing outside the designated AP centers in Hong Kong, Beijing, and Shanghai, who have children aged between 2 and 7 years diagnosed with autism. The primary goal of this program is to build a strong, well-trained local clinical team for the families, with continuous evaluation, ongoing training and supervision from Autism Partnership (AP). This ensures that families can implement a high-quality, home- or location-based ABA program for their child, fostering effective and sustainable progress.

How does AP support families in the recruitment and training of a clinical team?

AP will begin this process by helping with the recruitment and screening of potential staff. We will then conduct an intensive staff screening day to assist parents in hiring and selecting candidates. The selected candidates will then participate in a two-week intensive training program focused on practical, hands-on teaching, with direct involvement of the children from the participating families. This allows AP to develop tailored curriculum and programs for each participated child, while ensuring that staff are well-acquainted with the children’s individual needs. The training will be carried out by senior consultants and supervisors from AP in your hometown.

Upon completing the two-week training, the staff will begin working directly with the families, supported by ongoing consultation from AP. Additionally, AP will continue to provide staff training and offer staffing assistance to further support the families and ensure consistent, high-quality care.

  • Parents can conduct an initial screening of the CVS and send 4 candidates to AP.
  • 4 candidates will be invited to join the 3-hour interview. Parents will be responsible for arranging the 2-week training venue and ensuring their child is available to interact with the candidates. On that day, various activities and tasks (e.g., play with your child) will be conducted to help identify the best possible candidates for the Phase 2 training program.

During the training, staff will adhere to program guidelines and will be trained directly by AP consultants and supervisors to ensure they develop the essential skills needed to effectively and independently implement the programs and training.
  • Consultants will assess the children and initiate practical training. Children will attend daily sessions, rotating as needed, to work with the staff. Training staff will implement the programs and receive ongoing assistance and guidance from consultants.
  • Throughout the two-week training, each family will have a three-hour discussion with the consultants to review therapy sessions, gain insight into the curriculum direction, and address any questions.
  • AP will continuously evaluate the qualifications of the therapists and reserves the right to suspend or terminate a therapist’s participation in the program. Participating families will still be responsible for the associated costs, with specific details outlined in the contract terms.
