Cheuk Cheuk’s APM Journey at Autism Partnership
Real growth. Meaningful change. A personal story of progress through APM.
When Cheuk Cheuk was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) at just 2 years and 5 months old, his family was overwhelmed with questions and concerns about what the future would hold.
At that time, Cheuk Cheuk was non-verbal—his only spoken word was “mum mum.” He had minimal eye contact, showed little response to others, and rarely initiated social interaction. His attention span was extremely short, and he often threw tantrums when he couldn’t get what he wanted.
But everything began to change once he received the right support.
Just one month after his diagnosis, in December 2018, Cheuk Cheuk started full-day intensive APM therapy, a progressive ABA intervention, at Autism Partnership Hong Kong. Over 1.5 years of training, Cheuk Cheuk made remarkable progress across multiple areas:
language skills - moving from non-verbal to spontaneous communication
Improved attention and learning readiness through foundational “learning how to learn” skills
Gained better behavior regulation and reduced tantrums
Engaged in meaningful social interaction and shared play with peers
Acquired essential daily living skills, including independent toileting
